To Create a Reality (One Must First Believe in It)
Date: 2019-06-24 03:24 am (UTC)Peter Hale wakes up from a nine-year coma to his whole family dead or long gone, to a broken body that can no longer walk, and to a world that's long since moved on without him. He was never one for video games, and virtual reality was nowhere near as widespread and advanced before his family burned, but he's willing to give Esien Frontier a try if it means he'll be able to escape the wretched mess his life has become for even just a little while.
A genius shut-in and a crippled omega werewolf, both of whom have more or less given up on life in their own ways.
They play. They meet. And maybe they save each other along the way.

Author's Notes:
- Partially inspired by esama's Off the Line! There are some similarities starting out since I'm using their start-up screen layout & VRDC setup but I have their permission so all's good. If you haven't read Off the Line yet though, I would definitely recommend it, it's such a glorious fic.
- Game mechanics in this fic are taken from a mix of mostly Final Fantasy, a bit of Log Horizon, a smidge of Epic Seven, and some of my own ideas thrown in to fit it in the TW universe. And some of the monsters and abilities will also come from FF.
- To be honest, I have wanted to write a virtual reality AU for a very long time. I just couldn't decide on a fandom or characters or even a vague plot idea that interested me enough until now. Also I've never played that many RPG games, so like I love this genre but have almost zero experience to fall back on. Still, fingers crossed it won't be a total disaster.

Summary: The Sheriff’s abduction is the last straw. There hasn’t been much love lost between them after Claudia’s death (just a lot of lost love), but at the end of the day, John Stilinski is still family, still Stiles’ mother’s first and only love, and Stiles is sick and tired of letting people run roughshod over him just to play civilian.
Being normal has never been his strong suit anyway. And Skies have always been meant for greatness.
