Your story just made me wonder...when/why did Minato and Kushina choose Tsunade and Jiraiya to be Naruto's godparents? Like, usually that's done close-ish to the birth of the child, especially if it's made formal. Like, I don't think Jiraiya or Tsunade would have thought of themselves as being Naruto's godparents if Minato had just made some random comment when he and Kushina were dating, "Oh, when we have kids, you should definitely be their godparent."
But, and admittedly I can't remember the exact details from canon, were either of the Sannin around during the birth and kyuubi attack? Tsunade left after Dan's death during the Second Shinobi War, so that's several years before Naruto is born. I remember some mention of Minato sending the key to Naruto's seal to Jiraiya via a toad summons, and presumably if he'd actually been present that wouldn't have been necessary and they could have come up with a plan/seal that didn't require Minato to sacrifice himself.
I mean, I know Naruto's name comes from Jiraiya's book and that probably is what inspired Minato to make him godfather, plus having been his sensei. But, if you stop and think about it, Jiraiya and Tsunade are both really bad choices for godparent. They're basically defined by the fact that they aren't in and don't want to be in Konoha. This isn't a new development and is something that Minato and Kushina should be aware of.
But the whole point of a godparent is to be present to raise a child in the event the parents die (not an unlikely scenario for shinobi), so you would want to choose someone you not only trust but also someone you believe will literally and metaphorically be there for your child. Which basically mean that outside of someone like Danzo or Orochimaru that they might expect would actively kill their child...Tsunade and Jiraiya would literally be the worst choices.

Anyway, just something that made me think.
