My old man yaoi ship, and my current obsession. There's so little fics for ShunStarrk out there, I would be happy with anything you come up with so long as it doesn't include my DNWs.

Obviously, most anything with this ship means Starrk survives his canon death. I usually headcanon him coming back during the Blood War just in time to save Shunsui from that last shot courtesy of the Sternritter, and then they go from there, but feel free to go with whatever you prefer.

Soulmates - You Find Out You're Soulmates When One of You Dies and Comes Back as a Ghost Attached to the Other - Here's the one exception to my permanent character death DNW this time (sort of?). Starrk would come back as a ghost, so it's not really a permanent death, and you can totally end the fic with him still a ghost, or they find a way to bring him back properly, I'm fine with either so long as it's a happy ending, even if it might also be a bit bittersweet. Feel free to stack on the guilt and hurt/comfort.

Soulbonds - Soulbond Automatically Forms Between People Who Want to be Soulmates - This one would be a little funny if the forms while they're still fighting each other. I feel like these two clicked on sight, and with so much reiatsu being thrown around, they could probably pick up the same kind of loneliness in each other, and the moment that yearning for someone who would understand them is born, that first instinctive thought of "would it be so bad if...?" or "I wish we could...", and the bond just snaps into place.

Scenario - Character A Doesn't Want a Soulmate So Character B Hides the Fact That They're Soulmates // Soulmates - covering up/hiding soulmarks for reasons - Maybe it's public knowledge that Shunsui and Ukitake are platonic soulmates (might be true, might actually not be), and people can only have one acknowledged bond, or they actually aren't soulmates, and since Starrk knows Shunsui is his soulmate (Shunsui doesn't know for whatever reason), he concludes that obviously Shunsui doesn't want one. Or maybe there's never been a precedent of a Shinigami/Hollow match, and it doesn't take a genius to realize the Shinigami would never accept it, especially since Shunsui's a captain(-commander) and it would harm his reputation, so Starrk hides it from Shunsui.

Soulmates - Your soulmate’s lost items somehow end up in your possession - Post-Blood War where Starrk came back to help and then left again, so Shunsui knows he's alive and knows they're soulmates, so he deliberately keeps losing stuff just so Starrk will visit him to return them.

Scenario - Character's scars show up on their soulmate's skin - Sometime post-Winter War, scars appear on Shunsui that matches the should-be-fatal injuries he dealt Starrk, so he knows Starrk survived and has to live with the reminder that he carved up his own soulmate pretty badly. Cue loads of angsty hurt/comfort feels, especially when they meet again. You could even pair it with Soulmates - You Can Only See Your Soulmate's Scars If They Trust You, where the scars are - to Shunsui - invisible on Starrk until Starrk learns to trust him. Give me all the sharing bed and tracing scars tropes.

Starrk being much younger than Shunsui or both of them being super young (relatively speaking, for Shinigami/Hollows).

ShunUki, or at least only past ShunUki (maybe they tried when they were younger and they decided they were better off as friends). But yeah, I don't ship it romantically so please keep the focus on ShunStarrk.

Soulmates - You Can Choose to Take Your Soulmate's Pain/Injuries Onto Yourself - Definitely picturing that moment where Fred dies. Maybe George immediately tries to take Fred's injuries. Maybe Percy's just a bit quicker. Maybe neither of them knows Percy's also their soulmate. Maybe the injuries can only be transferred once. And Percy's taller than the twins so the injuries are just off-centre enough on him that he narrowly avoids dying. Cue panic and fallout and hurt/comfort moments.

Scenario - Character A Doesn't Want a Soulmate So Character B Hides the Fact That They're Soulmates - Maybe this is an AU where people get their soulmates' names once they reach a certain age, maybe 20. Could take place after The Fight and Percy storms out, so Percy knows first, and he thinks fate definitely made a mistake because even disregarding the fact that he's basically disowned now, he's always been the odd one out of all the Weasley kids, and the twins have each other, so what would they need their least liked sibling for? And now he has even less reason to tell anyone. Fast-forward to the end of the war, the twins just turned 20 shortly before the final battle but there was really no time to figure things out on the soulmate front at the time. Fred survives the war, but I've always headcanon'd that just because Percy apologized doesn't mean the Weasleys can go back to being one big happy family because I personally think the way they treated Percy was unfair too. So anyway, war's over but Percy stays away because it's easier and he isn't all that comfortable with his parents and siblings anyway, and at that point, he's actually half-forgotten the twins are his soulmates, right up until they show up at his doorstep.

Soulmates - You Always Know When Your Soulmate is in Pain - This one could be interesting if it's the twins feeling Percy in constant varying degrees of pain during the war, maybe because Percy's taking one too many risks at the Ministry trying to smuggle Muggleborns and Halfbloods out of the country so sometimes he has to quietly deal with a Death Eater or two who found him doing something suspicious, and sometimes he doesn't come out of those duels unscathed. Rescue mission? Earlier attempt at reconnecting where the twins reach out first?

Fandom-Specific DNWs:

Percy being the only one at fault for that family fallout (though he can feel like he was).

Post-canon timeline for Percy (the random wife and kids in particular). Not too thrilled with George's either, largely ambivalent about the rest.

Goto Ryuji and Woo Jin-Chul are my favourite ships with Sung Jin-Woo for completely different reasons. SJW/WJC's got that calm, quiet, domestic-y, old married couple vibe, while GR/SJW is more sexual tension and challenge and violence/love of hunting is our love language kind of deal. Not that GR/SJW can't be domestic, or that SJW/WJC can't also be bamf on the battlefield of course, both of which I'd also love to see, but each ship tends to be more often one than the other.

I know SJW is very OP, hands-down can beat pretty much anyone he meets, but strength isn't all there is, and I like how even in canon, WJC is always 200% on SJW's side and does his best to support him. We don't see too much of GR, and of course, he's a real bastard, but that's part of the appeal ;) He's arrogant and morally grey at best and has a lot of ambition, but he also leads the top guild in Japan and is basically in charge of protecting his own country plus several others since they get mission requests from other countries, and by all accounts he did a pretty good job at that until Jeju Island. TLDR he's an interesting character, obviously not as strong as SJW but I feel like he would have a lot of battle experience to draw from, wouldn't back down from SJW's... everything no matter how terrifying, if only because of his pride, and I imagine he could get pretty possessive of anything he considers his because of that pride.

Worldbuilding - Soulmates Are Required to Marry Once Discovered - Would love to see an arranged marriage AU for them, especially GR/SJW, needing to learn how to live together or juggle travel between their two countries (if you're not SJW at least but even he would have to divide his time). How do their countries react? How do other Hunters react? Especially since SJW was a notoriously weak E-rank before he "Reawakened" and plenty of people still look down on him for that. Or GR has a reputation for being hard to handle, with a temper and too much pride. Maybe they get along surprisingly well, especially when neither of them is the type to care about other people's opinions.

Soulmates - Count-down time to meeting often changes (eg time travel or deaths/resurrections or...) - This could be a fun one for either ship, what with SJW constantly going to other worlds where time moves at different rates compared to earth, he's dying and resurrecting every time someone turns around, and then there's the whole time travel thing.
