Here's my Dear Author Letter for the We Heart Peter 2018 Fic Exchange

PROMPT #1

Stiles is royalty and the Hales offer their own family members for a betrothal in exchange for something they need. Nobody expects him to pick Peter, least of all Peter himself who is something of an outcast even in his own home/kingdom.

Then the Hale fire happens. The Hales manage to survive but Peter is badly injured. His family expects Stiles to pick someone else but ofc Stiles won't stand for it. There might also be vengeance on the Argents and hearts served up on silver platters when Peter wakes up. Peter who also definitely didn't expect Stiles to still be waiting for him/nursing him back to health.

- The age difference doesn’t have to be the same as canon but I’d like Peter to be the older one, an adult already, maybe late-20s at least (adds to everyone’s shock when Stiles picks him), while Stiles doesn’t have to be underage (he can be) but I see him as at least a teenager and at most eighteen-ish if slightly underage isn’t something you’re comfortable with
Optional existence of werewolves/magic/supernatural
Stiles wooing Peter - it’s a done deal, but I’d love to see Peter shocked/confused/delighted that Stiles is taking the time to find out what he likes and make him fall in love with him anyway
Why did Stiles choose Peter in the first place? Peter doesn’t find out until much later. Reason is your choice but I’d like to think maybe even though Stiles will be the next king, he still spends a lot of time with the spies in his father’s employ, and he’s heard about some of the things Peter’s done to keep his family safe, and he wants that
And as consort, there’s an expectation that Peter would just be the arm candy/warm body in the king’s bed/symbol to the rest of the kingdom that their king is properly married even if his choice isn’t exactly proper, so he’s more than a little surprised when Stiles keeps giving him books on economy/taxes/complaints from the masses to learn from and go over, because apparently his new betrothed wants more than a not-so-pretty face on the throne, he wants someone to rule with him

PROMPT #2

Stiles travels back in time and accidentally lands himself in Laura's... body? Headspace? Right after the Hale fire happens. He's all prepared to hate her and/or fight her seriously shitty decision to flee and abandon her remaining uncle to six years of agony and madness. Instead, he finds a barely nineteen-year-old girl grieving and completely out of her depth with a suicidal brother on her hands and an Alpha power she doesn't want. So before he knows it, he's advising her and helping her as best he can. After he calms her down of course and assures her that no she hasn't gone insane, there really is a boy from the future sharing her... whatever.

Meanwhile, Peter drifts in and out of his coma, in terrible pain from broken pack bonds and burns, but at least there are still two of them shining in all the darkness, and they tether him to reality so he wakes much earlier and heals a lot faster. He can move and speak within a year even if he can't get out of bed yet, and he's so relieved to find his niece and nephew always there just a call away when he needs them. They're both healthy and they seem to be handling things, and Laura's a lot better at the Alpha gig than Peter ever thought she would be. She's kinder than he remembers but tougher and more confident and less arrogant too, and she already has plans to deal with the Argents, just not yet, not until her pack has healed. It reassures something in him, her decisiveness and her willingness to protect both Derek and him. Not at all like Talia.

Now he just has to figure out what that shadow hovering behind Laura is and why he occasionally catches her talking to it like it's perfectly normal.

(Incest tag is for endgame Peter/Stiles/Laura if you want to swing it that way instead of just Peter/Stiles. I’d love to read either one.)

I actually want to write a version of this myself one day but I thought I’d put it out there to see if anybody else wants to come up with something for it
Endgame ship can be Peter/Stiles or Peter/Stiles/Laura, up to you
Epic Laura/Stiles friendship though, and I’d love to see them taking turns in the driver’s seat so to speak, just the two of them sharing one body and they get so good at it that if you’re not Peter or Derek, you can’t even tell one of them is pretending to be the other
- Stiles possibly ends up very genderfluid because of this
Laura sharing alphaship with Stiles
Optional alive!Cora
Peter is the only one aside from Laura who is able to see Stiles for whatever reason
The main challenge is - how are you going to make a relationship between Stiles and Peter work?
- Will you go the simplest magic spell/create a body route?
- Stiles’ time is up and he goes back to the future where everything is different but Peter is waiting for him route (honestly this one’s my least favourite, I’ve never liked the time traveller going back to a different future twist, it always feels a bit like a cop-out, but if that’s what you prefer, I’d be okay with it too)?
- Incest including Laura route (maybe there’s already an existing attraction between Peter and Laura, and that was one of the reasons Talia tried to keep her brother on the fringes of the pack, or maybe Peter has to contend with a new attraction to Laura as well as his attraction to Stiles)?
- Something else entirely?

Extra Notes

I’m not too picky about this one, the other two prompts I listed are pretty specific so I wanted to throw one out where the writer has quite a bit more room to interpret it as they will
Basically I’m good with anything so long as this ends up with:
- Steter dealing with the apocalypse together
- Liberal amounts of angsty and fluffy interactions
- And a happy ending (or as happy as the end of the world can get, but it’s Steter, I’m sure they’ll make it work)
Doesn’t have to take place in the canon universe
- So the apocalypse could be the result of anything, it doesn’t have to be because Gerard/Theo/whoever fucked up or Eichen House released a virus or ghost riders did it, etc.
Stiles and Peter don’t necessarily have to know each other from the very beginning (hence the Different First Meeting tag I included, but ofc if you do want them to know each other at the start, that’s totally fine too)

PROMPT #4 (EXTRA)

[Just tossing this in because it was an idea I had a while back but never really got the motivation to write. I’d prefer if you picked a prompt from the other three but this one is fine too if it strikes your fancy.]

Stiles’ uncle/aunt passes away and they’re daughter goes to live with the Stilinskis. Suddenly, Stiles has a toddler on his hands, and no way is he letting any of the supernatural crap hurt her. It also means cutting back on the time spent running around after ungrateful werewolves because what kind of older brother/guardian would he be if he went and died on his little cousin? He knows firsthand how much losing family hurts, and he isn't going to do that to her, not if he can help it.

Meanwhile, after coming back from the dead, Peter finds himself equal parts bored and disgusted whenever he has to put up with Derek’s terrible decision-making skills or Scott’s let’s all be friends mentality. He thought at least that Stiles would be around to poke holes into both their plans and generally offer some sense to this joke of a pack but the boy hasn’t been seen since the night they fought Gerard and the kanima, and Stiles showed up looking like he was the victim of a mugging. None of the others have mentioned his absence either so eventually, Peter decides to go investigate for himself.

What he finds is Stiles carrying around a little girl, taking her out to the park to feed the ducks, and letting her drag him around when they're out buying kid clothes and toys. It’s… nothing like what Peter expected, but it hits certain… instincts he thought he lost in the fire.

So he gets just a little bit… obsessed. He starts following Stiles around, watching him play with the child who’s clearly under his care, reading to her, feeding her, dropping her off at daycare in the morning before school and then rushing over afterwards to pick her up and wouldn’t it just be easier if someone offered to babysit?

And basically, this is a fic about how Peter inserts himself into Stiles and his new “daughter”’s lives while falling in love with Stiles’ child-rearing skills (and everything else too), and the two of them just generally being domesticated af.

Extra Notes

Post-Season 2 Canon Divergence
The premise is that Stiles or the Sheriff gets a call the day after the kanima/Gerard showdown about how the Sheriff’s brother/sister (or even a relative on Claudia’s side) died in a car crash (or a shooting, or whatever, but they’re dead), and their daughter only has the option of living with the Stilinskis or being placed with a foster home. Obviously, that’s not a choice at all.
It’s Stiles’ wake-up call - if he’s going to be taking care of a kid, he can’t be running around getting almost-killed every other day anymore, and that includes avoiding shit like Derek’s tendency towards violence because seriously, Hitting Is Wrong, and it would set a bad example
The daughter is 3-5 years old
Stiles has basically taken care of his dad for six years, it’s no surprise he’s good at the whole raising a child gig - he’s nervous he might fuck up, the kid just lost her parents too, but he can do this
- The Sheriff is… not exactly absent but he is the Sheriff so he’s busy, and the majority of the responsibilities fall to Stiles
Peter is like… smitten at first sight upon stumbling on Stiles cooing at a little girl perched on his knee while teaching her the alphabet
He starts turning up at the Stilinski house - using the front door and everything too because he doesn’t want to seem like a creep, and he gets the feeling sneaking around and going anywhere near Stiles’ kid without permission is going to result in another shallow grave for him
And of course Stiles is suspicious, they’re not exactly best friends, but Peter is persistent
Stiles’ kid has good instincts and is already looking to Stiles to see how to react to someone so she’s a bit wary too, and after losing her parents, she’s attached herself to Stiles and by extension the Sheriff and doesn’t much like spending time with anyone else
- (Although honestly, I just want a fic where the kid doesn’t take an instant liking to Peter, it seems a pretty common theme in other kid fics)
BASICALLY, Peter has to work for a place in this little family, which is something he didn’t even know he wanted until now
And then there is fluff and domesticity and a dash of angst probably when the others eventually find out because the others all agree Peter shouldn’t be anywhere near that kid, and it’s just super annoying to both Stiles and his daughter because they have no right, seriously go away
And Peter’s just all kinds of stunned and pleased
Who exactly is in Derek’s/Scott’s pack, and who is Alpha - you can decide
